The Dust Busters are an old-time string band based out of Brooklyn, New York. They strive to integrate a wide range of old-time songs, ballads, fiddle tunes and jug band blues into every performance, infused with the oldtime feeling and freewheelin’ high energy that characterized early string bands such as The Skillet Lickers, Dykes Magic City Trio, The Mississippi Sheiks, and J.E. Mainer’s Mountaineers, among many others. They are influenced and inspired by the direct fusion of Scots-Irish and African music that took place in Appalachia, the Western states and the Deep South from the earliest colonial times through the Second World War.  The Dust Busters have been playing together for about 2 1/2 years, and have been touring quite a bit around the United States playing festivals, colleges and venues and have just returned from their first tour of the UK and Ireland!  The Dust Busters have just been signed to Smithsonian Folkways Records and will be releasing an album with them early next year.  They are often known to play with John Cohen of the New Lost City Ramblers and with Peter Stampfel of the Holy Modal Rounders.

Tickets are $8 in advance, $13 day of show
