The Jude Johnstone story is one familiar to those who write rock & roll fiction. Except hers is very real. Just out of high school, she found herself on an airplane, next to Clarence Clemons, of the E-Street band. He was so taken with her demo she’d given him that he hooked her up with Springsteen’s producer Chuck Plotkin. They sent her to Los Angeles, and she never looked back.

Soon followed a string of extraordinary songs, covered by the likes of Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, Trisha Yearwood, Bette Midler, Emmylou Harris, even Johnny Cash. She’s contributed vocals to albums for Bette Midler, Warren Zevon, and Leonard Cohen. She’s opened shows for Joe Cocker, Jackson Browne, Bonnie Raitt, Emmylou Harris, Richard Thompson, Shawn Colvin, David Crosby, Al Stewart, and countless more.

But the live stage is where Jude comes into her own. Seated at her piano, and often surrounded by some of the top A-list musicians on the planet, she delivers those songs, the stories behind them, and more, wrapped in her gentle nature, self-depreciating humor, and quick wit.

And now, with the release of her seventh solo album, “A Woman’s Work”, and after a run of opening West Coast shows for her friend Bonnie Raitt, Jude is again taking her solo show to the road.
