Blue Line Highway & Tin Can Fish BandSep 11, 2015 | 0 comments
Since its inception in 2001, Blue Line Highway has forged a unique hybrid of rock, blues, country, jazz and Americana.
The current quartet is the latest of many incarnations of Blue Line Highway, possessing a new bolder yet simpler sound than ever before. The band is now fully acoustic, yet still combines a rock ethos with an eclectic mix of other genres. The focus is upon original music plus an ever-changing kaleidoscope of cover songs. This band is made of love and friendship, which shines through their playing and makes their music rise to heights above the sum of its parts. Once you see them together and hear the results, you’ll know that the band itself is more than four musicians; it’s their joy.

Tin Can Fish Band started as the duo TinFish in 2006, with Steve Fisher and longtime friend and Colonial Williamsburg tavern musician, Doug Austin. While primarily performing original songs, TCFB draws from a wide variety of material and songwriters ranging from public domain and Bluegrass to classic pop, Americana/Folk/Roots and World music. Doug and Steve performed for several years throughout the southeast and collaborated on several studio projects including “Broken Land Parkway” and “Nothing But Hope”. Doug is a much sought after string player in central Virginia and also plays in the Runaway String Band and Blue Line Highway. Drummer and Hand percussion player Jack Taggart and former Circuit Rider/ Single Bullet Theory bassist and longtime musical cohort Keith Macphee combined with TinFish to form TIN CAN FISH BAND in 2012. Veteran Richmond guitar favorite John Leedes joined TCFB in November 2013 and has filled out the band’s unique sound with soaring electric leads. Most recently Joe Conner, member of Blue Line Highway has lent his talents on the accordion & piano to piece together an intricate layering giving Tin Can Fish Band its unique acoustic and electric blend. Their first full length CD Tin Can Fish Band was just released in July 2015.
