It’s Ladies’ Night at AC&T with 3 great musicians from Charlottesville!

Inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains and the rich musical traditions tied to them, Tara Mills describes her music as, ” blue ridge mountain folk;” an original blend of folk, bluegrass, and Americana.Writing and singing most of her life, it wasn’t long before Tara picked up a guitar and taught herself how to express the melodies in her head through her songs and hauntingly beautiful lyrics. Influenced by bluegrass, old country, and traditional mountain folk, she creates an original sound that captures true human feeling and emotion. Based out of Charlottesville, VA, Tara plays and writes in a couple of different musical projects.  Her most recent solo project, Tara Mills with Strings Attached, incorporates some of the areas most talented musicians performing original blue ridge folk and bluegrass. The band consists of an upright bass, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, banjo, mandolin, and sometimes fiddle and dobro. Tara Mills with Strings Attached and her other project, Yankee Dixie, have played at many music festivals including The Festy Experience, Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion, Campout East, Camp Barefoot, The Crozet Music Festival, The Blue Ridge Oyster Festival, Mountain Cove Music Festival, and many other venues, radio and television broadcasts, and on the internet. visit her website: taramillsmusic.com

With a voice real and as honest as they come, Holly Renee Allen delivers Americana soul. Her songs are rich and vibrant, lyrically intelligent… “Southernese” sets the tone for RED DIRT SOUL. A melodic collection of the usual love, heartache, sex and longing but bold as a ruby camellia blooming in the Georgia red clay. There is a little something on here for everyone. Holly is a Virginia native, grew up at the foot of the Blue Ridge in the Shenandoah Valley. She was born and bred from generations of country and bluegrass and raised on The Beatles, Janis Joplin, The Rolling Stones, Bonnie Raitt , Dylan and such. Holly has played throughout the southeast. She had the good fortune to work with legendary producer Johnny Sanlin as well as stellar musicians Bill Stewart, Pete Carr, David Hood, Spooner Oldham and Scott Boyer. Holly’s song “Her Place” is the title track of Sanlin’s compilation CD, a benefit project for Alabama’s Hope Place, a women’s shelter. This project opened the door for an appearance on WAAY-TV’s early show, WAFF-TV news, as well as www.liveonthenet.com . Holly has been a guest performer for the Muscle Shoals Songwriter Night and at the Crossroads Café. She also played Decatur’s Princess Theatre sharing the stage with Carla Russell, Scott Boyer and Leroy Parnell.
