2 great duos tonight!

We first heard Mark & Raianne at the Songwriter’s Showdown when they travelled through Virginia – For over a decade, Mark Mandeville & Raianne Richards have resonated with the lover of Americana, old country, and harmony singing, commanding crafted melodies and poignant, introspective lyrics, backing them with delicate arrangements on ukulele, clarinet, guitar and banjo. In 2014 the duo attended NERFA (Northeast Regional Folk Alliance) as QUAD showcase artists. Recently they were selected as the representative folk act for WICN’s 45th anniversary gala fundraiser at Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA- performing regularly at respected folk venues/listening rooms in the northeast such as Club Passim (Boston, MA), Iron Horse Music Hall (Northampton, MA), The Sumner Knight Chapel (Keene, NH), Ashland Coffee and Tea (Ashland, VA), and Burlap and Bean (Philadelphia, PA). Hundreds of concerts have been given and thousands of records have been sold, all on their own steam with longtime support from indie label Nobody’s Favorite Records. Over the years, Mandeville & Richards have shared the stage with acts like Garnet Rogers, Melanie Safka, Eric Brace & Peter Cooper, John Gorka, Willie Watson, Pierce Pettis, Pokey LaFarge, Joan Osborne, Mustard’s Retreat, Atwater & Donnely, Antje Duvekot, The Low Anthem, David Wax Museum, Deer Tick and Brownbird.

April 19, 2014 marked the release of Hard Times & Woes, of which Americana UK has heralded “akin to acoustic country folk of the late 1970s and early 1980s the product is performed in an artful (and entertaining), seamless fashion.” Boston-based review blog Red Line Roots confirms “this record is defined by impeccable and gorgeous harmonies, wonderful musicianship, great songwriting and smart choices in the arrangements.” Mandeville and Richards have recently completed a twenty-three date east coast tour, and are currently undertaking a radio promotion campaign (stations currently playing tracks: WUMB, WICN, WHUS and WCNI). visit their website: http://www.markmandeville.com/

Jackie & John have collaborated as a duo for many years – John Conley is a multi-faceted musician, influenced and experienced in styles of music ranging from jazz to classical, and blues to bluegrass.  John’s interest in music began at an early age, mesmerized by his Grandmother’s basement piano.  From there and on, he has dedicated his life to performing, composing and teaching music.  Graduating from the acclaimed VCU Music Department with a bachelor’s in music performance with Jazz studies, John was privileged to study and perform Doug Richards, Mike Ess, Skip Gailes, Bob Hallahan, Howard Curtis, Steve Wilson, John D’Earth, Jimmy Bruno and John Abercrombie.  He has spent the last 10 years performing around the East Coast area, composing and recording his own music, and teaching private and group lessons to hungry minds.  His versatility and dedication to his craft has earned him prominent roles in many eclectic  styles.

Jackie has been a delight for audiences at AC&T for 15+ years – she first performed here as the leader of The Jackie Frost Trio and a prominent member of the Among Friends group. She now continues to delight audiences with her warm vocals, relaxed stage presence, & smooth slide and acoustic guitar playing as a member of the bluegrass group, East of Monroe and of The Jackie Frost Band.
