The Greencards

With two Australian founding members, Americana/Roots/Folk act THE GREENCARDS are probably the least likely Austin-formed/Nashville-based band you’ve ever heard. Their love and respect for Americana, Bluegrass, Jazz and Country brought them together in 2003 and they have since toured every inch of North America including stints with Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson. The band earned the Americana Music Award in 2006 for “Emerging Artist of the Year” and landed Grammy nominations in 2008 and 2010 for “Best Country Instrumental Performance”. Their urge to challenge themselves and test the limits of any established genre guided The Greencards–singer/bassist Carol Young and multi-instrumentalist Kym Warner– from Australia. Their meticulously crafted arrangements serve as springboards for exhilarating improvisations. Tickets are $17 in advance, $22 day of show visit the...

A sound that’s hard to describe, yet impossible to forget…  With a cutting edge vibe that explodes with originality and soulful expression, Morwenna & Jay’s music redefines the acoustic origins of violin and guitar.  Both graduates of Berklee College of Music, the Violin & Guitar duo started playing together in 2004 and have continued to push the boundaries of “acoustic” music. “This duo is a force. The music comes from the heart, and bristles with excitement and inventiveness… Much of the country and world hasn’t tuned in yet, but they will. One listen is all it takes.”  -Aer Stephen (“Folk & Beyond” WTJU) Joining Morwenna and Jay will be Pete Spaar (Upright) and Devonne Harris (Drumkit). Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 day of show visit their website:...

An Evening with Steve Bassett

Jan 10, 2011 |  0 comments

An evening of story and original song from one of Virginia’s favorite sons and one of our favorite performers! “Steve Bassett’s musical style is a synthesis of America’s root music; blues, r&b, gospel, and rock & roll. Not only does Steve have a true feeling for the blues, he is a master of the gospel idiom, and in this combination of talents he is just about unique in music. He is a singer’s singer and he communicates with his audience in a soulful front porch manner that crosses markets and generations and leaves his listener feeling like he has sung to them alone.”-  John Hammond, Sr. Tickets are $15 in advance $20 at the door Visit Steve’s...
