Two-time Grammy-nominated Kim is a storyteller; a weaver of emotions and a tugger of heartstrings. Tender, poetic and aching with life’s truths, Kim’s songs transport you to her world, where words paint pictures and melodies touch the soul. And then there’s her voice. Pure, arresting and honest, her voice makes you take notice; Kim has the kind of voice where if emotions were ribbons, they’d be streaming in rainbow colours from your iPod. Her voice gives you goose bumps. The 15-year musical journey that has led Kim to her latest album, “Wreck Your Wheels” has been a dream run. Aside from her two Grammy nods, she has released five critically acclaimed albums; been listed in the Top 10 Albums of 1999 in US Time Magazine for her album “Glimmer”, and been given 4 stars in Rolling Stone and named Alt-Country Album Of The Year in People Magazine for her album “Rise”. While Bramblett may not be a household name, he is legendary within music circles for his songwriting and musicianship. He released a pair of acclaimed solo albums in the mid-‘70s, then joined the jazz-rock outfit Sea Level, becoming their principal songwriter and vocalist. From there, Bramblett embarked on a path as a big-league, musical utility man (primarily sax and keys) and landed on the speed dial of some of the greatest names in rock history, including Traffic, Steve Winwood, Levon Helm and Bonnie Raitt. “Randall is in my opinion the most gifted & talented southern singer-songwriter musicians of the past several decades.” —Chuck Leavell (Rolling Stones, Allman Brothers) Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 day of show visit his website: http://www.randallbramblett.com

Dangermuffin

Sometimes a band sticks in your mind like good batter sticks to your ribs. A memorable name helps, and Dangermuffin is no pushover of a moniker. But it’s the round-the-fire looseness, yet still polished groove, that leaves the Charleston-based trio’s catchy hooks lingering in our ears. Together just two years, they’ve toured their raspy Southern style as far as Colorado’s Jazz Aspen festival and become Carolina public radio favorites. Dangermuffin is delicious from the first bite, but be certain to give a closer listen to the depth of songwriter Dan Lotti’s lyrics.  Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 day of show visit their website : http://www.dangermuffinmusic.com/

Kris Delmhorst

Kris Delmhorst’s arresting new album Shotgun Singer began as an act of solitary creation. Holed up in a rural cabin with minimal recording gear and a houseful of instruments, Delmhorst recorded her new songs alone and off the clock, in late night sessions that yielded layers of intimate vocals combined with nylon string and electric guitars, cellos, keyboards, and percussion. She treated the work like oil painting, allowing the canvas to breathe and change over the course of many months until the picture emerged. With the core of each song patiently assembled, she brought in a diverse cast of players to add sparse backing lines of drums, keys, guitar, and vinyl-based samples, and then signed on co-producer Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter) in arrangement and mixing, enlisting him meanwhile to play keyboards and percussion on several songs. The result is collection of songs fully realized and even lush at times, but retaining a hushed intensity, a spirit of lo-fi intimacy and unhurried...
