Paul Cebar Tomorrow Sound

Jun 9, 2010 |  0 comments

TOMMOROW SOUND NOW FOR YES MUSIC PEOPLE, the newest addition to the Cebar catalog, boasts both the open-hearted spontaneous soulfulness we’ve come to expect from this dedicated musician and wild-headed, crazyquilt conjuring (Knock It To Me, Like A Gentleman Oughta, Spread That Sugar) that feels like a bold contemporary invigoration of the inviting verities he has always explored.  “Paul Cebar has been a primary investigator and promulgator of funky Afro-Carib-inflected Americana since the ‘80’s…. Cebar stays vital, putting his good foot forward from Green Bay to Baltimore to the Big Easy.” TOM CHEYNEY | LA WEEKLY Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 day of show Visit the Website: http://www.paulcebar.com/home.html

Benefit Concert with Bianca Merkley, Jackie Frost, BJ Kocen, and More!

Jun 7, 2010 |  0 comments

Open to the public,  the concert is being called “Harmony for Healing: Women Helping Women Through Music.” The proceeds will be donated to Mood Disorders Clinic in the Department of Psychiatry at VCU and Central State Hospital (Women’s Unit). Bianca Merkley does not look or behave like one might expect from a rock star.  Bianca is, and always has been, a down-to-earth type of girl; one who others might say enjoys the wisdom and foresight that suggests she is an old soul.  Her unpretentious beauty is natural and unassuming.  But don’t be fooled by the mysterious and soft-spoken girl holding the guitar and standing before you in front of the microphone.  This girl rocks the house. Naomi is also one in which you should not be fooled by. She smiles politely at everyone and dazzles many with her positive energy that radiates from her. A cellist from age three, Naomi is unstoppable. Her passion for life, people and music is evident in everything she does. See...

She started out singing in Chicago bars. Then, barely out of high school, Lucy Kaplansky took off for New York City. There she found a fertile community of songwriters and performers — Suzanne Vega, John Gorka, Bill Morrissey, Cliff Eberhardt, and others — where she fit right in. With a beautiful flair for harmony, Lucy was everyone’s favorite singing partner, but most often she found herself singing as a duo with Shawn Colvin.  Tickets are $18 in advance, $23 day of show visit her website:http://www.lucykaplansky.com
